The Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa County provides customized, confidential and convenient outplacement services to businesses in transition through its Rapid Response Team.
These no-cost services are provided to affected employees through the America's Job Center of California/EASTBAY Works Career Center partners. Through on-site presentations, information is provided to employees about re-employment and transition services available at the career centers, and from other agencies and organizations in the community.
As a team member, a representative from the Employment Development Department (EDD) provides information on unemployment insurance benefits and other available services through EDD.
Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN)
California Assembly Bill 2957 requires specific businesses that are downsizing or closing to give affected employees and other state and local representatives 60 days notice. The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) informs the community of the pending transition.
Included in this section is information on Contra Costa County layoffs as well as WARN information for transitioning businesses. WARNs do not necessarily reflect actual layoffs due to changing circumstances after the notice was filed.
