  • Paid and unpaid work experience (such as internships, apprenticeships, and job shadowing)
  • Supportive services

Individuals with Disabilities

The California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) administers the largest vocational rehabilitation program in the country. DOR has a three-pronged mission to provide services and advocacy to assist people with disabilities: live independently, become employed, and have equality in the communities in which they live and work.

DOR provides consultation, counseling, and vocational rehabilitation and works with community partners to assist the consumers they serve. Apply for services online, or for additional resources and/or to schedule an appointment with a DOR counselor, visit America's Job Center of California - EASTBAY Works.

Community Corrections Partnership

The Workforce Development Board works in collaboration with the Contra Costa County Administrator’s Office, Sheriff's Department, Probation Department, and other public agencies and community based non-profit partners to ensure re-entry participants are able to access services and leverage resources. The Community Corrections Partnership  utilizes the America’s Job Center of California - EASTBAY Works network and other community resources, including the Future Build program which provide access to employment and education assessment services that focus on self-sufficiency and job-readiness for the reentry population.

The WDB's participation in the implementation plan for the West County Reentry Resource Center and the East/Central County Network System of Services for returning citizens will enable the reentry population to access a system of services from education and employment to our Small Business Development Center (SBDC) programs and opportunities for business owners and entrepreneurs.
